Overview |
---|
Even the smallest feline is a masterpiece, said Leonardo da Vinci. The Singapura is evidence of that truth. Known for being the smallest of the domestic cats (four to seven pounds), this one-time Singapore street cat is considered a living national treasure by that nation-state’s government. He is noted for his big ears; big eyes in hazel, green or yellow; a small muscular body; and a short, ivory-colored background coat with brown ticking that gives him the appearance of having stepped out of a sepia-toned photo. The smallest domestic cat breed, the Singapura is an extroverted, playful feline sometimes called a “pesky people cat.” This breed thrives on attention and interactive play. Called Pura for short, these cats are intelligent and keenly observant. Friendly and social, they enjoy cats and cat friendly dogs, but dislike loud noises so are not ideal for busy households with boisterous children. |
Children & Other Pets |
The Singapura is playful and smart and can be a good friend to a child who treats him nicely. He’s one of those cats who enjoys playing fetch and learning tricks, and his energy level means he won’t wear out before the child does. He is happy to live with other cats and cat-friendly dogs, too, thanks to his amiable disposition. Introduce pets slowly and in controlled circumstances to ensure that they learn to get along together. Singapuras usually get along well with other animals and seem to prefer living with some kind of company, not thriving when left alone all day. |
