1Lykoi

Breed creation: 2010

This breed is noted for its distinct appearance, which features a lovely coat color and pattern resembling the fabled werewolves of legend. The Lykoi is a pleasant, gregarious, loving cat that gets along well with humans and other pets. When fully mature, they can live for 12-15 years and weigh 6-12 pounds. At maturity, the adult Lykoi stands 8-10 inches tall. Due to their distinctive coloring pattern that resembles a wolf's coat, the breed's coat is black/ebony in hue and almost patchwork-like in appearance.

Two different sets of domestic shorthairs with the Lykoi gene were adopted from a rescue after being discovered in Virginia in 2010, by Patti Thomas, who co-founded and named the breed, and in 2011, a second pair was located in Tennessee, by Johnny Gobble.
